W1CRM's Antenna Slingshot Project:

Hi Dave,

I completed my slingshot project and tested it today.  Shot it over 125 feet in an arc over 90 feet high into a lake.  It worked great.  Attached is info on the project and some pictures.  You can put it in the projects page of our web site if you would like.

Thanks for giving me the idea.

Rick

Slingshot Antenna Helper by W1CRM

Items to purchase:

Marksman model 3061 slingshot - $9.96 @ Walmart
Fishing swivel sinkers 1/2" size (4 in pack) - $1.50 @ Walmart
8" Cable Ties, 2 needed (25 in pack) - $1.48 @ Walmart
6" x 3/4" Zinc Mending Brace - $2.29 @ Ace Hardware
4 each, 1 1/4" Fender Washers - $.72 @ Ace Hardware
2 each, 3/4" long bolts (that fit through fender washer holes) - $.54 @ Ace Hardware
2 each, Wing Nuts (for aforementioned bolts) - $.30 @ Ace Hardware
Zebco Original 33 spincast reel - $19.99 @ Bass Pro Shop
(Note:  I used a Zebco ONE Classic that I already owned.)

Directions:  Loosen top screw on slingshot.  Slide both metal bars as far forward of the grip as possible and re-tighten the screw.

Place the mending brace between the slingshot's metal bars.  Place the washers above and below the metal bars, line up with the two rear holes in the
mending brace.  Place the bolts through the washers and mending brace's holes and secure with the wing nuts.

Place the bottom of the reel on the bottom side of the mending brace and secure with two cable ties.

Tie a swivel sinker to the fishing line and you're ready to go!

Retail price$40.24 + tax.  I spent $20.25 since I owned a fishing reel.  It's a breeze to clip the cable ties when I want to go fishing and replace them
when I return and need the antenna helper!

Good luck from Rick, W1CRM
